The 24 Hour Mega Swim is a community event encouraging people of all genres to take part in fundraising for Multiple Sclerosis. The Swim is comprised of no more than 15 swimmers per team. Each team must have one swimmer in the water for the entire 24 hours. Swimmers are then asked to raise money through sponsorship of themselves or their team.
The first North Queensland 24 Hour Mega took place in Cairns on the 14th May, 2011 at the TAS Aquatic Centre with 11 teams participating. Skytrans sponsored the Aquatic Aquanauts team who raised $3,172.50 and came third place for fundraising dollars. They swam 68.1km during the 24 hours and came fourth place for distance swum per team. Way to go Aquatic Aquanauts!! Skytrans also provided the use of our marquees for the event.
The Cairns 24 Hour Mega Swim was a huge success and raised an amazing $25,383.00. Funds raised from the 24 Hour Mega Swim supports the Go For Gold Foundation which provides scholarships to people living with Multiple Sclerosis to aspire and achieve to the best of their ability and also contributes to Financial Assistance Programs to provide direct and immediate support for people living with MS.
Congratulations on a fantastic job to all who participated over the weekend!
